What ever happened to the Yellow Jacket Craze? Are people over it already? They used to sell for $100 a polyp and now I see 4-5 polyp frags that can't sell for $100? Whadup with that? Just curious if people are over it, decided their nothing special or what........?

Seriously I don't see how they are that much pp. I think a Nuclear Green Looks better in my tank. Just MO though.

Yellow Jackets are not brown and black zoas. Yellow Jacket are black/yellow/green and they are not fast growers. They are different that why they cost so much and there is not a lot of it around.

Mine is somebody threw a bee sounding name on an ugly polyp while the Hornet craze was ongoing to make as much $$ as possible IMO.

Still look very yellow-greenish, black and brown to me though.

I would have to disagree with your statment about growth..I started with 3 polyps, and went two 8 within 30 days..have fragged it twice and still have 15+ polyps and still growing...after 3-4 months

Can't agree with you, mine are more yellow then green.. I'll try and get some pics up later...
 
They grow a lot faster when fragged, so i guess everyone fragged theirs up quickly so a lot of people out there have it. They are an extremely unique paly though, only one closest to that would be mauls right now but those are orange/red so it really is a one of a kind.

Mine melted within two weeks lol. Well, they closed up and haven't opened since at least. I got mine for $46 I think - not spending that much on polyps anymore.
 
One, agreed that someone was trying to ride the coat tails of the Hornet movement. But thats up to them and us the suckers for falling for it..................I got mine for free!!!,,

Two, mine came from the original colony found and named. There is zero brown, straight yellow and black with a hint of limy green in the skirt. But we all know different tanks and conditions will yield different colors.

Third, they grow fast as hell. Started with one little over a month ago, now have 8-10+ plus they are big polyps!

Lastly, when they first came out people were selling their souls for $100 dollar polyps, now deals can be found from 3-5 for a hundy plus factor in the fast growth rate.....seems like a deal to me!

So beyond the supply/demand, coat tails, over charging, peoples inaccuracies with growth etc. are these polyps hot or not, dope or over rated?

Agreed!

I would say they are still dope palys, but since they have fast growth rate and everyone trying to sell them to make their money back as fast as they can and trying to beat the next person on giving a better deal it drove the price way down. Just not the new craze anymore since theres more zoas and palys that catches the eye more for some, newer ones being found and ect.

And that is the way it should be. I can't stand these idiot who do the name game thing, or "new release" and over charge like crazy. Where the hell is the camaraderie of this hobby, helping and hooking each other up and out. Instead there are these fly by night chop shops running a muck over charging like crazy. Makes me sick, sicker to see some actual drop the coin.

Sorry rant done. I love the looks and the growth rate of the YJ's and glad they are finally coming down to more reasonable rates!
