Yellow Leathers--Fiji vs. Tonga Vs. Aussie

Tongan is just as bright as the Fiji I'd say. Keep in mind they only keep their vibrant yellow under very bright white light, preferentially from MH or T5. They are truly light loving corals. They don't look that good under the LEDs of today. Speaking from personal experience.

Do they actually fade under blues? Or just not look as bright in blues as they would under T5s?

They turn a brownish yellow colour under blues. My advice is to keep them under intense daylight. They look their best under that spectrum, and plus they do not fluoresce, so they don't have colour under blues.

Personally, I believe the Fiji variant tends to be the brightest of the bunch but I agree with the rest of what you've stated.

I currently have a small colony from Fiji that I've had for about 5 years now (got it shortly before the ban). I actually cut it from rock that it's parent colony was on. It was about the size of a pencil eraser at the time and is now maybe 5" wide. Although generally a slow grower, I'm embarrassed to admit that the tank was severely neglected up until about a year or so ago. Otherwise I have no doubt that it would be far bigger than it is today.

I have a Fiji and it grows at a good clip! You may be right about the colouration between the collection variants. I am tempted to cut my colony to make backup frags, but I'm not sure how they handle fragging...
