I just saw one of these at my LFS and it was SO cool!!!! It was only about an inch long and looked to be very healthy. I didn't buy it because I have made a couple impulse buys that I regret so I held myself back. I know cucumbers can contaminate the water if they die but could one that small contaminate my 29 gallon (20 gallon sump). I would feed it oyster feast once or twice a week and stir the sand up about once a week to for its food supply.
What are your thoughts? Thanks :)

You have to admit it........ they are cool in a creepy kind of way :)

I think they are cool, owned a few.

They tend to hang out near overflows and other higher flow areas where they can capture particulate matter.

The also split/clone, one day you'll have one and the next two.

That's cool!!
So, should I put some sort of cover on my overflow and power head?
Should I worry about them contaminating the water if they die?

I never worried about them in the power head or overflow, they just want to be in the ideal flow area where particulate matter is drawn to, they are filter feeders as you already know.
All I can say regarding toxin is that it never occurred in my tank.

I would plan on feeding phyto also.
That's a good idea, thanks
I want to get one but I am afraid it will get caught in my power head and contaminate the entire tank. I know I could get power head cover but that doesn't look as good.
Though decisions :confused:o_O

I kept a sea apple in my tank for a year. (Broke down the tank for non crash reasons) it was very similar to that guy and mine stayed in the same 20 sq. inches for the duration.
