Yellow spots growing around tank

I’ve had my tank cycled for a about 2 months and starting yesterday yellow has been growing on rocks/sand. All the levels in the tank are good and was wondering if I should let it ride out or clean out the tank. I cleaned the sand yesterday only to find out that the yellow is back. Is this normal? And is this something that usually happens before algae begins to grow?
