Yellow stuff growing on rock

Hi Everyone,

My tank has been up for almost 1.5m. Only running carbon and doing 25% water changes every week.

what are these yellow dots growing on the rock?? Just started last few days.

Looks like the start of diatoms algae - good thing, it means the tank is maturing!

Anyway to avoid it?? GFO I like the nice stage

It will go away on its own eventually. Getting inverts like snails and hermits help to keep it to a minimum.
The uglies are annoying, but it eventually results in a beautiful ecosystem.

I have 2x cerith, 2x nass and 2x nerit snails + blue legged crab in a 10g. Maybe I should add more Ceriths??

In my 13.5 I have 10 nassarius and 10 trochus/astrea and 8 hermits
