I have been cycling my first saltwater tank for about a week and a half, and I am noticing some yellow stuff on all the corners of the aquarium. I am wondering what this stuff is?

Any pictures?

I've noticed that my ammonia has decreased a lot since I've seen it.
Ammonia decreasing is a part of a normal cycle and diatom blooms are common with a new tank :)

It is almost in every corner (counting baffles in sump) except there is not of the stuff in the corners of my filter sock/protein skimmer compartment.

Here is a photo of what it looks like.

Okay, that doesn't look like diatoms necessarily but it does look like an algae of some sort. It's kinda odd how it isolates itself to just the silicone.

Yes, It is only on the silicone. But like I said before, the protein skimmer compartment is perfectly clean.

Is this a brand new or used tank? Weird that it's only attached to the silicone

Looks like a bacterial culture plate to me..

I think some silicone release acetic acid when curing, wondering if that's a factor and encouraging bacterial growth on the silicone.... Idk just a guess

What's the texture of the stuff?
How long did it cure before you filled it up?

It is slimy, but it doesn't come off easily. It had plenty of time to cure, I think between two and three months.
