Are they aggressive towards each other. I have a 125 gallon thinking of getting a few.

IME you should go with either 2 or get quite a few. I have 12 in my 210g. I tried three in my old 90g and 2 paired off and killed the third. I actually have Azures but they are basically the same thing.

As far as chrysiptera damsels go, they’re the least aggressive, you shouldn’t have a problem

I had 2 of these, they were my first inhabitants. I read they do well in odd numbered groups and I was ready to add some more fish so I picked up 3 more the other day. Well 2 of them have been picked on pretty badly by the other 3. One of them I was able to catch and put in the QT to heal and I'm trying to catch the other one who is currently hiding in a corner. Once they are healed up is it worth trying to add them back in the DT by using a breeder box? Or should I just return them to the LFS? Not sure if this aggression will be short lived or not and I hate to see these 2 get picked on so bad...

It’s likely not going to get better. Once the original pair has established their territory they are not likely to allow newcomers. How large is the tank.

It’s a 90G tank. The original pair have tolerated 1 more but apparently not 3 more. I still haven’t been able to catch the 2nd bullied one, he’s still cowering but they seem to have lost interest in him so maybe they’ll leave him alone ‍♀️

I’ve had a single yellow tail since day 1....nice looking little fish and is funny watching him think he’s gonna stake out territory against my Tangs... they can be little buggers but “Lucky” is part of the gang.

I would add a pair. I had three and one did not fair well and eventually died. They are not long live fish, mine live for about 7 years, spawned all the time but eventually the grow old, feeble and die.

Mine is in time out. He's the jerk of the reef. 2 blue/green chromis, 2 clowns, 1 firefish all friends. But the yellow tail chomis - Mr. *****. I am getting my 40 going and when its ready I will probably leave him in the small tank which will be a frag farm.

I ended up figuring out which 2 were jerks and returned them to the LFS. The remaining 3 get along fine for the most part. A bit of occasional bickering between 2 of them but nothing serious

I put about 9 of them in a 6’ long tank with a ton of rocks to hide in. True to their reputation, they killed each other off at the rate of 1 or 2 every other day. 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, TWO. These 2 get along fine... in 90 gallons of water. ;Bored

Get 2 and no more
I've got the original two blue/green chromis in the tank free and the yellow tail chromis is in the quarantine box in the same tank and every body in the tank is happier!

Works better with 2 than with a single one. As singles they have nothing to do but pester other tankmates. When you have two they pretty much just interact with each other

I have had 3 Azures for about 14 months now in a 100 gallon.

They bicker amongst themselves and that’s about it.

I had the Yellow Tail Chromis in with 2 Blue Green Chromis and a pair of Clowns but he is bossy and attacks my Fire Fish. I put him in time out for a few days. Maybe until I do the tank transfer and let him stay solo in the what will be the Frag Tank. Maybe he will do better in the bigger tank.
