I have 2 Yellow tail Damsels and 1 seems not do good and the other seems just fine. The 1 that is fine looks to be kind of nudging the other with its tail to swim around. Is this normal and has anyone seen them do this before?
Any info will help. Thank you in advance.

These guys will typically Harper at each other generally with one being the aggressor
Most damsels are territorial. They’re colorful and cheap bit not worth the headache in many cases

do yourself a favor and get rid of those damselfish they are little a holes. Springeri and azures damselfish are peaceful, dont really chase fish, and never bite fingers like those other devills

Had no luck with damsels until I picked up a springeri damsel from Dr. Reef.
great fish. It gets along great with all my other fish. no chasing and as a matter of fact, it seems to be buddy buddy with my little tomini tang now. The two are always hanging together. He's a voracious eater though. lol fat little guy always searching for food.

If you want a damsel, I say springeri is a good option.

I bought the Damsels to keep my small established tank going. I currently have 2 Clowns, Hermit crab, Fire Shrimp and a Fire fish in my other tank.

That's Chrysiptera cyanea not Chrysiptera springeri

That said, both are known as less aggressive damsels. The springeri is by far the least. I have never heard any reports of aggression outside of territory squables among members of the species. Every report I've seen of a springeri being aggressive turned out to be cyanea in the end.

There is some debate over this.
Some say the black one is the springeri while others say the all blue is the true springeri.

Real Springeri?

I've got an all blue and he's been peaceful so far.

what gives it away is the black spot on the fin near where the tail starts

male cyanea also develop yellow bellies sometimes

leading them to get confused with taupou

I bet many of these fish are quite peaceful, and because of how often they are sold interchangeably, the meanest ones ruin all their reputations.

I'm down to two of the yellowtail damsels, they literally live on opposite sides of the tank and typically don't cross into each others territory. They are total a$$holes to similar sized fish, and as said above will harass other fish to death. I started with 7 back in March when I started my 120, I have two left. I won't replace them, again as said above they aren't worth it @ all. They killed a few smaller/weaker fish with their harping.
