Yellow Tang Acting Weird HELP PLZ

Hello all! My Yellow Tang is acting strange recently. Started around 2 or so days ago. Started to breathe a lot heavier, is also, as seen in the video, scratching on rocks ): Everyone else in the tank is fine, and the Tang does not have any spots on him or anything. Also, I dosed Prazi this morning and now he is scratching a LOT LOT more. Before I would see it rarely. Now its all the time after the Prazi dose. Any ideas what it could be? Thank you!

Also I know about the HLLE! Trying to fight it with daily nori and selcon filled brine! For some reason this is not stopping it though ): I believe maybe it is because I used to always have carbon. But I have since removed it

Tang looks like it's definitely struggling and tank looks really new.

The flashing and darting seen suggests flukes along with the breathing. It will take prazi a couple of days to start working effectively.
Verify ammonia levels and you can give the fish a 5 minute freshwater dip in a Clean container using tap water the same temperature as display tank with added aeration with it breathing heavily.
How did you measure amount of praziPro used for treatment.
Now that Praziquantel is applied known as an interval, allow it to run for 8 days, do a water change and do one more 8 day dose interval
Use airstone with prazi as it does reduce both oxygen and appetite. If running a skimmer, leave cup off first 24 hrs as skimmer will go nuts from the glycol solution in Prazi

Thanks for the reply! Sorry about the light. I can change the spectrum really fast to get a better video to see! As for the tank, it has been up for over a year. The tang, my two clowns, and a midas blenny have been there that whole period and I had them in a my previous tank before that. The only new additions have been a jawfish and cardinal. I don't have any way of testing parameters. But since the tank has been up for such a long time, I feel like they should be fairly stable right?

I was hoping flukes! So much easier to treat. I used a cylindrical measuring cup for it. I attempted to slightly under dose as I do not know how much water my rocks are displacing and was scared of over dosing. I did turn of my skimmer luckily! I wanted to keep it on for oxygenation but was scared it would go crazy like you said haha. I pointed a powerhead right at the surface and I also have a HOB filter that I hope oxygenated enough along with the normal mp10 in the tank. I want to try a fresh water dip but I have never done one before. Would it be overly stressful for the tang? I am just a bit scared of trying it. And thank you so much!

Well the only API tests I use are ph and calcium because close is good enough on those for my tank.
I wouldn't rely on API for anything else.
I think you and vetteguy are on the right track. I'm not the disease person just trying to help.
But,you gotta get some test kits.

I dont recommend Api brand but will give you quick reference. If elevated, a water change will always offer reduction of elevated levels

Was not suggesting to test for mediation levels (wouldn't know how to do that) only making sure he/she was not in distress over any water conditions.
Like I said, referring to the experts here seems like you got it handled. Best of luck take care of that guy!

Praziquantel has to be measured- you cant test it. It can be mixed with vodka to break the gylcol content down a little

No - don't mix prazipro with ethanol. That just adds more carbon source for bacteria to work on. Ethanol is sometimes used to dissolve powdered praziquantel (although I don't do that any more, too much of an issue with low DO).

Then, it is pretty common for fish with severe fluke infections to scratch and act worse after being dosed with prazi. In fact, in severe infections, the flukes drop off, leaving thousands of holes in t he fish's skin, and the fish can actually bleed out - no way around that though, you need to treat them. Next, you'll want to do a follow up prazipro treatment in 8 days. Some people do a 25% water change prior to the second treatment.

Okay thank you! I hope it is not to severe ): I have had this fish for almost 2 years now. Would be such a shame to lose him to flukes.
