Yellow Tang Aggression

Hello All,
This is my first post. Got into the hobby 5months ago. I have a 90 gallon FOWLR. Stock includes:
4 green chromis
2 clowns
1 hippo tang
1 yellow tang
1 6line wrasse
1 purple spotted
1 henicacus
2 cleaner shrimp
Various cleaner snails and stars

Just bought the last fish on my list yesterday a powder blue tang from my LFS. I was told that since he went in last it would not be a problem. The problem I’m having is my yellow is going after him hard. Tail swipes and nips all over the place.

Questions;
How can I curb the aggression and will scales grow back and heal. This was a beautiful fish, now he looks like hell.

You have 3 tangs in a tank that is barely suitable for one and the Yellow Tang is the only one that will work long term. The Blue Hippo is recommended for 180 gallons minimum and the Powder Blue 125 gallons. Nothing is going to fix this except removing the 2 tangs that are going to get too big for your tank. Powder Blues are also very prone to ich so I would remove him sooner than later as the stress can bring it out.

Sorry buddy, tangs that you have all need a 6' long tank. For a 90 gal. if you want a tang I recommend a Kole tang. They will fight till the powder blue is dead, because the yellow was their first. As for LFS saying it would be fine, remember they are their to sell you fish. As for us on this site you may not like what you hear but it will be from experience. My advise, take it slow, research, research and research some more. Good Luck

Thanks All for the quick responses. It’s disheartening to hear that I was given bad advice by my LFS. Guys seem reputable and very knowledgeable. If the PBT is injured they should still take him back right?
