Hey everybody, as title says - yellow tang has severe bloat and from digging it seems like it may be liver failure, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger no matter what. Just really sucks and idk what to do, I moved him to a little quarantine tank - I know it needs cleaning I was just trying to isolate him for the time being. Problem being IF it is liver failure I’ve only seen euthanasia be recommended, one other larger yellow tang I saw with this issue eventually died as well. He swims and eats and acts perfectly fine. Just with this large swell on him.

Great video didn’t work. Will take screenshots and post them

That does look like ascites (fluid build-up) from organ failure as opposed to just over-eating. However, that it is still eating and not showing other symptoms gives some hope that it might pass.

Dont fret - this happens. As Jay stated, it is fluid like and as long as fish is eating - feed brine shrimp which will help it pass foods easier.

WELP- the update is in. I did ~50% WC right around this post and another 25% this past weekend. Siphoning the debris out as best I could. He never touched his last piece of Nori I put in there. And right now (just home from work) he is giving up lying flat on his side. When I walked up to the tank he managed to get upright and swam for a few seconds before becoming visibly fatigued and sank back to the bottom lying flat. Time to euthanize I think. Was essentially a death sentence and I knew that but I wanted to give him a chance, but he’s done. I think it’s more humane to kill him quickly now than let him die this incredibly slowly - it just looks sad/pitiful/painful
