Yellow Tang Bruised?

Hi all,

Seeking some advise on what this could be on my yellow tang.

It just started a few days ago. Looks like it's bruised or maybe an infection?

Has a couple bristles sticking out the red area. Could this possibly caused by bristleworms?

The yellow tang eats and swims just fine and no other tang has any issues.

He's been in my tank for 2 years.

I have gem and purple in the tank too I'm suspecting fighting but they get along just fine.

Looks like an abrasion that may have a bacterial infection (redness). Let’s get some opinions.

This is a bacterial infection and not in alignment with injury which is often blamed. Low salinity can contribute to this as well as poor diet but I would revisit your water parameters in particular ammonia-ph-salinity .
What foods are you feeding ?
As for treatment, in tank, you can safely use ruby rally Pro which will take a couple of days to take effect and treat. My best recommendation is Seachem Kanaplex in a quarantine tank with fresh seawater with added oxygen via Air stone monitoring water quality with a reliable test kit

I feed it a mix between nori sheets, frozen mysis and krill and pellots.

I'll try the ruby rally route as trying to catch this one is gonna pose a challenge for sure.

That's weird to see in a long term captive like that. I've seen bristle worm spine issues, but they don't look so spread out like this.

Did it show up suddenly, or did it start small and grow larger over time?

It started off small and then getting to the size in the photo.

I have not anything new in the tank and just perform water changes. Hopefully the ruby rally will help out with this.
