I recently added a yellow tang/Zebrasoma flavescens to my 150. It is the largest fish in the tank at about double the body size of my kole tang/Ctenochaetus strigosus.

The odd thing is that it doesn't appear to sleep. No matter what time of day or night, it's out and about. Is this their normal behavior, or is this an indication that I need to redo my rock for larger hiding areas?

Thanks!

Tangs don't technically go to sleep. They will go into a 'slow down' mode and usually find a place to bunker down, but they are always partly alert for possible predators.

Part of what you are observing is it getting it's circadian rhythm adjusted to a new time zone, and partly getting familiar with it's new surroundings, especially if it noticed activity around the tank.

Ground probe.....maybe stray current

I just checked with a digital multimeter. ACV read 0.1, DCV read 0.10 with all equipment running, though maybe not my heater. The meter read 119.6 using the same ground plug as I used for the tank test. I suppose it's possible, but unlikely my issue. I'll check a few more times over the next day or two to see if I have an intermittent *cough* heater *cough* issue.

X2 this is spot on.

It should be on Eastern time already since I've had it for about a month, but it's only been out of my basement QT for about a week.

So long as its got what it needs, I'm happy. Thanks for the advice!
