Hey there,

Need some help with diagnosing and treating my yellow tang in one of my QTs. Just noticed yesterday that one of his eyes is in bad shape. It doesn't look like it is just a cloudy eye but it is swollen to the point of popping out. I know one of the fish in QT with him has been picking on his fins but I haven't witnessed who it is. I only have 2 fire fish, a clown tang, and a coral beauty in the QT with him. Obviously it is either the clown tang or the coral beauty which are both half his size. Do you think this is a disease/infection or trauma from someone beating on him? What would you do to treat at this point? I do have an open 30 gallon QT up and running I can put him in by himself. He is still eating as of last night. These are the best pictures I could take with him swimming around so much. Any help would be appreciated.

Odds are it's the Clown Tang who's whooping up on him. But in all fairness, the YT is probably provoking. In either case, they need to be separated.

As for the injury, you can dose Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gals) to help relieve the swelling. However, I'm betting this fish will also need antibiotic treatment (erythromycin would be best).

He would also probably benefit from a MB bath: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/methylene-blue.257467/

Or acriflavine: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/acriflavine.282887/

I have epsom salt and furan 2. I will follow the directions for the furan 2 and change out most of the reef rally so he has fresh salt water to get better.
