I have a juvenile yellow tang in QT with a juvenile coral beauty. For the last few days I have noticed some damage to the tang’s fins. I have not noticed any aggression between the tang and angel since they’ve been together and both are eating well.

does this look like fin rot or is the angel nipping?

Hard to tell by the photo. It is most likely aggression but keep an eye on it. Are they currently in any medication in QT?

You could be proactive and add kanaplex + furan + focus to their daily feedings.

Its hard to tell but its looks like your tang also has HLLE. Ecosystems fish solution is an awesome product that helps reverse that.

Here is a link

They’re currently in cupramine and will stay on it through 30 days of treatment. I’ll try the antibiotic feeding. I’ve got focus on order....

I have suspected HLLE on the tang but wasn’t sure. He was captive bred and came tiny; almost translucent. I wasn’t sure if the coloration loss was due to age or HLLE. I haven’t heard of ecosystem fish solution but will check it out.

You can always get a tank divider and separate the two fish and see if that helps. That is what I had to do in my QT since it is such tight quarters.

Not a bad idea. Will give that a try.

can you use ecosystem fish solution with cupramine ?
