Yellow tang has red streaks

I didnt have a qt tank so I just used a 10 gallon plastic container and I've got my salinity or sg at just below 1.20. Is lower salinity the way to go here ive never treated a fish before so I'm a newbie with this. I'm using erythromycin. I've had this guy 5 years so I'm kinda attached to him. Anything I'm doing wrong here please?

Could be a bacterial infection. If so, "Treatment should be done with a broad-spectrum antibiotic or combining antibiotics for the widest spectrum possible. Combining Kanaplex, Furan 2 and Metroplex has the potential for providing the widest spectrum of antibiotics for a gram negative (or even a particularly stubborn gram positive infection) and can be combine safely together."

What do you feed him? How is water quality? Do you run carbon?

I see some erosions too.

Why QT if you’ve had him 5 years? I think you maybe hurting the fish if that’s the case...

I treated a cpl hours ago with erythromycin and I have ordered maracyn two that comes in tomorrow. Would these 2 treatments suffice? I may be too late as he wont eat and is lethargic.

To separate him from my reef so I can treat him with antibiotic.

Erythromycin is mostly effective against gram positive bacteria. Very possible you're dealing with a gram negative one, which means the erythromycin may not have much effect.

I do run carbon. My water quality is ok and the rest of my fish are ok but not the tang. I have had some reddish purple velvet like substance growing in spots on the rock but none on the sand bed so I dont know if its cyanobacteria. I feed him seaweed and flakes and pellets. Hes no longer eating though.

Nori is great but I would start adding stuff like LRS herbivore frenzy. Right now you are basically feeding all dry food. The tang looks a bit rough with HLLE.

I would also stop running carbon.

It is possible some cut/scrape or underlying disease like flukes or ich lead to a bacterial infection.
