Hello,

So I purchased a yellow tang from my reef store (about 1 hour drive) and she died 4 days later. Any idea what could have happened? 100 gallon reef tank. All parameters are stable. Tank has been established for 8 months now. Could the drive have stressed her out and caused illness? She was fine doe 3 days and all of a sudden wouldn’t eat. She died that night.
Thank you!!

Salinity is a tad low. Do you test your kh or calcium levels? Testing for phosphate is a plus too.

How did you acclimate? Do you have any other fish in the system? Did you have the lfs feed in front of you? Lastly any signs of ick?

Could be that the fish has been stressed for a while, and the travel with you was too much. I have had fish come home with me that wouldn’t really eat, and die within a few days. I attribute that to the fish probably not eating at all while at the shop before I picked it out from all the stress it’s been through.

Drip acclimation. No longer than an hour. I did see them feed while I was there. All were active. There were a few others in the same tank and all were fine. I have a few other fish Blue chromis, 2 fire gobys, a beauty angel and a clown. All reacted fine with the tang. She ate very well for a few days and the last day she wouldn’t eat. I did notice some weird coloration. The white stripes on their sides were super bright, kind of seem similar to HLLE but no actual leasions on her. Just a more faded color and lethargy. Low salt fir starters
Acclimation method- cup of water every 15 mins X 6
Tank temperature?
Did you enter bag water into tank?

Kh Calcium or phospates don't affect fish, unless they are at toxic level, by that time everything in the tank would have been long gone.

Was just using it as a basis for how well they maintain their water parameters. Never said any of those were toxic to fish.
