Yellow tang ich.

So I bought a yellow tang yesterday and I've noticed this morning it's broken out with major ich as it nearly looks white theres so many dots on it. I'm treating it with poly lab and garlic treated food but the issue I have it's in my main tank as I have no room for a qt tank. Should I carry on treating it or take it back to the lfs where I got it? Or is there a better way to treat it?

We need more information. What size tank? What do you have in the tank right now? Sand? live rock? fish? Inverts?

250ltr tank with fx6 as filter, qq3 bubble Magnus, live redsea sand tank has been up and running for 1yr. 6 chromis, 2 clowns, regal tang, royal grammar, tricolour wrasse, chalk blenny, yellow tang. All live stock are babies biggest is regal tang at 2 inch. Upgrading tank next year to 525 redsea.

With so many white dots almost sounds like velvet. Can you get a picture of the fish with white lights please.

Looks like minimal rock, if treating entire tank now would it hurt biological load to remove all the rock to a holding container to treat infection so rock doesn’t absorb medication??? And also replace the sand when everything falls off?

Definitely ich and looks like maybe Lympho as well mixed in. I would not treat in DT with any copper medication. Best thing you can do is pull fish and put into QT with copper medication.

Haven't got room for a QT so always put fish in main tank and treat in there if need be. I'm treating with polylab and feeding food treated with garlic.

In your case I would try the ich management approach. As polylab and garlic will not eradicate ich. Here is a good article about the subject.

If you've made the decision not to QT, then by default you are dealing with ich management, per post above. Definitely read. Polylab and garlic are useless for this. The problem I see in your future is that there are much worse parasites than ich out there. Ich is child's play compared to velvet. A velvet wipe out will make you break down your tank in despair and sell it on craigslist. I advise that you read up on QT protocols and strongly consider whether you have any ability to do any of those, instead of just saying "I have no room." QT is a pain in the butt, that is the main reason people don't do it.

So I've ended up setting a QT up now as the yellow tang died and killed 5 other fish but the others are on full recovery. Not happy at all but I spoke to my LFS where I purchased them as I tried returning the yellow tang and was refused. After contacting them again and speaking to the manager this time they are covering my losses as they should've took the fish back as they shouldn't of sold it. Thanks for the advice and I wont make that mistake again now having a QT and everything needed to treat the fish in QT. Just wanted to keep everyone updated on the progression of this issue.
