Hello, this brown spot by the tail appeared on my Yellow Tang in the last 24 hours. Any ideas?

Thank you in advanced EwnK6090S8m5PCCnUeof6w.jpg

Yikes is right. I'm not a disease expert but I took the liberty to move this to the disease forum where the experts hang out.

Looks like an injury that's become infected. Do you have a QT tank available? Also, how long has its fins been like that? How long have you had him?

I do not have a quarantine tank, but do have a sump. I have had him for 2.5 years with no problems. The spot showed up yesterday. The fun issues in the last 1.5 weeks. I started feeling him algae last week.

Get yourself a qt tank, you need to treat with antibiotics and you can't add then to your dt. Do you have any meds on hand?

I would work on setting up a hospital tank for the antibiotics, but in the meantime give him a freshwater dip to check for flukes:

I suspect flukes could be the cause of both the infection and the fin damage. You can treat the flukes (PraziPro can be used in tank with some precautions) and gather materials to set-up a hospital tank.
