I treated my 260Gal with Fluconazole for Bryopsis and GHA, and next day lost two of my Tangs, and my Yellow Tang has these sore like spots on his sides. We moved out the chaeto before dos, and we only dosed 100Gal vs. doing a full 260Gal dosage of Fluconazole as we wanted to not overdose. Anyone seen this result using ReefFlux and any idea on what this could be? It looks as if he's scratching on rocks. He has some abrasions on his head and nose. I was thinking HLLE, but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That isn’t HLLE. I’ve not used fluconazole, so I can’t speak to a reaction from that. I agree with @Qasimja - it looks like a bacterial infection. I’m not positive, but I see a mark above its snout, and also on its forehead...could it have rammed itself into some rocks?

Thanks, it could have rammed it self, but haven't noticed the behavior. I do have a QT tank, but no antibiotics. What do you recommend? Maracyn?

It’s crazy, none of the other fish exhibit the issues and it literally happened right after the fluconazole treatment. I went to my LFS and picked up some Melafix, (all I could find on short notice) and will get him in the QT tank ASAP.

I would think that a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic would be you best course of action: Maracyn 2, Kanaplex, or Furan-2

Thanks so much. I’m working on it and I’ll let you know how it goes.

UPDATE - I couldn’t catch him due to the size of the tank and rock placements so immediately did a few frequent large water changes to remove the fluconazole and my yellow tang seems to be eating and getting better. His sides are growing back and he seems to be very active. I’m not sure why my fish reacted to the fluconazole but that was the culprit and others may want to beware. Really appreciate the help here so thank you!
