Hey everyone, I have a buddy whose had this yellow tang for a couple years and it over the course of a couple months it has started to turn red. He gets selcon soaked food daily along with nori. Any thoughts? Thanks in advice! He has also gone though a course of kanaplex.

Turning red is not a good symptom. Appears the fish is fighting a bacterial infection. Any time you see redness developing, a close watch is necessary. If it was my fish, I'd put it into a QT and first treat with Nitrofuracine Green Powder (NFG). It works really well with "redness and red sores" that develop on some fish, especially larger fish like butterflies, etc. Or treat with the trifecta of Furan2 + Kanaplex + Metroplex.
Here's a like to an article on bacterial infections by Humblefish: http://www.reefedition.com/tank-terror-bacterial-infections-reef-tank/

+1 agree with @Big G.

Bacterial infection and a treatment with the "Trifecta" in QT is best route (if you don't have NFG on hand).

Also adding Zoecon to food will be helpful for the HLLE.

I agree with the bacterial infection and hlle.

I would also look for intestinal parasites.
