Yellow tang natural spots?

Are these spots on the face of my new Tang a parasite or part of his coloration? He's been in cupramine 2 weeks, no change on the spots.

Probably just some bumps from shaving/razor rash.

On a serious note....and I will preface this by saying I'm no pro on this end. But I don't happen to notice those on my Yellow Tang, and also he looks a touch on the pale side.

Yeah as soon as I saw them when I got the fish home I figured it was ich. So into qt with copper he went. He's been eating aggressively, including daily nori and has a happy belly. He is probably a bit pale due to the fw dip he was in when I snagged the photo. Did not see any parasites drop after the 5 minute bath. Any other ideas? Not sure if I should continue to monitor in qt or if he is ok to go to display.

looks like just a natural spot pattern to me, i don't think its a disease.

I would second natural pattern. They become more noticable when a fish is stressed. Similar to the white horizontal line on its side.

I don't think they are parasitic in nature.

I'm not 100% certain that they are natural. Could be a reaction to copper or if you haven't de-wormed yet flukes are a possibility.

You could do a 5min FW dip to see if there is any change.

He was in a 5 min FW dip when I took the photo. Nothing appeared to come off him.

I suggest you still keep it under quarantine. 2 weeks (14 days) is not a long enough cycle to completely eradicate the fish of any type of protozoa. Most parasites go through 3-4 cycles, each cycle lasting roughly 5 days before completely dying off under heavy medication. I tend to keep my fish in QT for no less than 30 days & usually for longer periods. As long as the tang maintains a strong healthy appetite, it will be able to fight through any illness. One thing this hobby will force you to understand, is that patience is very key. We just celebrated New Years & in a blink of an eye, it’s mid February. Mid March will be rolling up very soon, that would be a good date to introduce it to your DT. Take your time with the tang. There’s no rush & no need to run the gamble of introducing a parasite in your main display. Good luck.

Well I just think this one is pretty with freckles! Haha.

I'll take a close look at mine when I get home and report back as well.
