Apperas to be Lymphocystivirus or Lymphocystis disease virus (LCDV), which is a member of the family Iridoviridae. Infection appears on the infected fish as one or more white or beige colored pebble or wart-like nodules most commonly seen on the fins, skin, or gills, although other tissues may be affected.
The good news is this virus is unique and is fairly easy to identify, and death from the virus itself is fairly rare. When the virus first begins to grow, it may be confused with the parasites Cryptocaryon irritans (marine white spot disease), appearing as small white or off-white specks on the fish's skin or fins.
Do realize that secondary bacterial or fungal infection can occur so , although there is no actual treatment option, there are precautions you can take, to reverse this:
- Maintain and assure good water quality which is part of reason fish has this
- Feed a healthy diet, including supplements.
- Treat for secondary infections if they appear to arise. maracyn 2 is a good chice for treatment IN A QT TANK.

That just doesn’t look like Lymphocystis to me, but YT have strange skin, so maybe it looks different on them? They sure show HLLE differently from any other species.I've noticed the recent batches of yellow tangs coming into stores have very big nodule looking things attached to them. Does anyone have an idea what these may be?
