Recently my yellow tang has started to see these red patches on his body. I saw these about 4 months ago but they went away on their own, now its back. He did have some trauma when he slipped into my fish trap when i was getting my anthias out. Is it a bacteria infection? Would it go away with good feeding? Yes I know hes skinny but he came out of qt not too long ago and I only fed him minimal to keep ammonia low. Its near/on the tail, it was first on his body and disappered and then it appeared on his tail now.

I would keep an eye on it. Are you adding vitamins to food? Thinks like vitachem, selcon, zoecon etc?

No, should I? I do have those products like selcon

MetaKnight...It’s been my experience that when yellow tangs start to develope red areas it’s usually bacterial. Although it’s very mild right now. What do you feed him?

+1 on bacterial, mine developed that same condition during a copper treatment for flukes. This was 4-5 years ago but I seem to think I treated with Prazi +metro and it went away pretty quick.

I feed him Nori Seaweed for 5 days along with some flakes. Then I feed him mysis for two days, occasionally i feed them some raw shrimp.

Sounds like he’s fed well. Personally, I’d put him through a round of antibiotic therapy and see if it changes his appearance. Probably hit him with 2 different broad spectrum gram+ & Gram-

OP did you get resolution to your tang problem?

Mine is currently in my qt under observation. Don't want to use medication if not necessary.

Thanks
