Yellow Tang Sitting on Sand Bed

Have a powerhead but don't have an extra heater! Any suggestions?
You’ll be fine without a heater for the night. Alternatively, you could put it in the sump with an extra bubbler to be safer

How long has the fish had the rapid breathing?

Net will stress it some more. Place crab in a bucket or similar for now.
Once breathing is normal, feed:
Spirulina brine shrimp
Brine shrimp with Garlic added

When eating:
LRS Herbivore diet
Flake food
Veggie formulas that are frozen
Nori seaweed basted with garlic
Mysis shrimp

Add selcon vitamin to feed periodically also

Just today, possibly yesterday night etc.
When I have a fish that has some rapid breathing gill problems like ammonia burn or flukes. The ammonia burn can also shut down the eating too. I'd consider placing the fish into a bath with methylene blue. It will help the fish's gills to transpire O2 and if there are other issues, it has a bit of an antiseptic/antibiotic like ability to help unseen problems.

Dosing instructions for using 2.303% Methylene Blue solution:

1) 30 min bath (preferred): 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per 5 gallons.

2) In a quarantine tank: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per 10 gallons every other day for 10 days with water changes before each treatment.

Had him for a long time. It is a very picky eater and eats only a little bit.

How long is a long time? Looks like nutritional issues to me. Once acclimated a YT should be a pig with fins not a picky eater. Maybe some underlying disease is driving the eating issues. Not much to be done about that unfortunately.

I did a tank transfer months ago and ever since than he has been a picky eater. This morning I woke up to a dead tang so back to the old drawing board I guess... Thanks for the help guys. I guess I didn't catch it quick enough and that was that.
