Any idea what this spot on my yellow Tang might be? Showed up yesterday and still there today. Have had him 2 or 3 months now. Seems to be acting fairly normal. Maybe swimming a bit slower and eating slower than normal but could just be in my head.

Looks like hlle to me, also might be the picture but looks very skinny. How much is he eating?

He isn't a voracious eater but will eat twice a day when I feed. Not an aggressive feeder. I do noting twice a week and feed frozen mega Marine algae and Mysis twice daily. Also do hikari pellets Marine s and extreme seaweed but he doesn't go for them.

What's the recommended path to halt and reverse hlle? I have seachem carbon matrix but it doesn't tumble. Also use phosguard media.

I suspect flukes. I would do a 5min FW dip to see.

Also looks to be a bacterial infection starting.

Do you have a QT?

No has not undergone any deworming. When I bought him I QT for observation with no meds for a month. What do you suggest and why?

Thanks
Sometimes a thin or malnourished fish is due to internal parasites. That red spot in the center of the tang's body looks very suspicious. Looks like it's developing a bacterial infection as @HotRocks posted. Consider treating with antibiotics. NFG or the trifecta of kanaplex + Furan2 + metro.

You definitely have HLLE at play.

The spot on side in pics 1+2 is still concerning. If it were me I would still do a FW dip. Then move to QT and treat with antibiotics. You may need to start with general cure if flukes come off the fish. Then move to ABX if the spot is still there.

Exactly my thoughts as we were posting at the same time^^^

Can someone give me a quick explanation of abx vs nfg I am not familiar.

Is there any reason flukes are suspected? No signs of flashing or itching. Will abx clear up internal parasites?

The original pic. Looked like flukes on the fins. Not as much with second round of pics.

No, ABX will treat the red spot.

Thanks. So first fw dip, if I see flukes, treat with general cure (what about prazipro?), Should I treat for internal parasites whether I see flukes drop off in dip or not? If so, is the stress of the fw dip worth it? Then abx for the skin infection?

4 min fw dip no signs of anything dropping off. In a 10 gal QT now with general cure going. Will continue to monitor and treat. Thanks for help everyone.
