So I have a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium thats been up and running for about a month and a half now. I have 3 damsels, a clown fish and a yellow tang.. last night we added 3 new fish.. and this morning my yellow tang was dead... all levels and temp were normal no spikes.. any idea why my yellow tang died?

Please post all tank parameters. What three fish where added? Have you had anything else die? How was it acting before it died?

This is a great place to learn and get help welcome.

We added a baby lion fish, hawkfish, and a clown tang! Nothing else has died except the damsel we got 2 days after he went in.. The Yellow tang was completely normal last night - swimming around no signs of it being sick at all. this morning he was lying on the floor.

How did the clown tang and the yellow tang do together?

Were your new fish QT before they added to your tank? Possible disease from new fish? check your current fish to see if any sign of disease.

Lying on the floor .... of the tank? Or on the carpet? If the latter, I can tell you why it died. How big was the clown tang. Other than being a poor choice for a 75, the clown is about the most aggressive of tangs, particularly as it grows.

Im going to guess stress from aggression

well our Lion Fish just died this weekend... thinking maybe it was him that was sick? he was just added the day before our tang died

no I did not QT the fish. The employee at the store said the fish would be perfectly fine in the 75gal tank.. but i guess he wasn't the most knowledgable. Ill do my research next time. PS- it was a mini lion fish not a regular size one... if that makes any difference?

Not likely water quality, either disease or stress. Unfortunately most LFS employees are a poor source for good advice (though there are, of course, some notable exceptions). I cannot imagine anyone who actually know what they are taking about would say a clown tang in a 75. But, we’ve all been there .....

So over the time of this post- a lot of my fish have died. Ive noticed my damsels are hogging all of the food and I'm thinking i need to get rid of them. I had my water tested and it came back with good levels. All I have left are Shrimp, 3 Damsels and the hawkfish...

We lost:
Striped surgeonfish
Clown Fish
Yellow Tang
mini Lionfish

Any other reasons we are loosing so many fish? I am scared to get any new ones.
