Hey guys. Need some opinions on a new yellow tang, been in this tank for about a week. I don't have a qt up yet, this guy is in a frag tank. I am noticing that he has some cloudy eyes and the head region is looking a little rough? Not a fish expert so input is much appreciated!

It needs to get medicated. I use a combination medication that has three meds including metronidazole (Everything Aquatics Triple Cure) to help with parasites. Make sure it is getting a good variety of foods. Eating is a must for these guys to get them healthy.

The cloudy eyes can be a symptom of bacterial infection. Important to note that the bacterial infection is usually a secondary actor. Something else is usually causing it: parasites, disease, water quality, stress, etc.
Flukes are very common. Giving the fish a "freshwater dip" can confirm or eliminate flukes from the situation. Here's how to do a FW dip:

I'm leaning towards flukes, planning on doing a FW dip as it is something that I can do right now. Can flukes be transferred from one fish to another?

I must admit, I have never done a freshwater dip, so I never recommend them. That does not mean they are not good. I am not saying that. Just I do not have experience and do not want to recommend something I have never done. Big G knows their stuff. Following them should not lead you wrong.

I did the freshwater dip, it is definitely flukes. There were several that came off and it looked like a few remained attached. Got some prazi on order

Quick update. Dosed the second dose of prazi yesterday on day seven of treatment. Tang is looking much better. Needless to say all fish in the future will make a stop in qt before going in the tank.

Also just a word of advice for any lurkers that might suspect fluke issues. Don’t be afraid of a freshwater dip. It really is super easy and doesn’t seem to stress the fish out from my experience. Really no reason not to do it imo. Biggest hassle is matching the temp of the fresh water to tank water.
