My yellow tang first started showing dots on its tail and fins yesterday, although minimal.
I have noticed today that dots are starting to form on its body.

I have dealt with ich before on other fishes, but not on tang. The dots on its body seems like it's bulging out of its skin like a pimple. So I'm unsure if it's ich or flukes. I thought maybe because the structure of the body and its so thin that the ich is caused this way? So I want to gather some intel from experienced owners.

Unable to take photo's as yet.

I have my quarantine tank sterilized and has been cycling for the past 2-3 weeks already, so it would be ready to go in should need be.

It's eating alot, and my shrimps have been cleaning it for the past 2 days which was a great sight to see.

Are yellow tangs one of the few (or tangs in general?) that are easy to get ich?

I attempted to do a freshwater dip this morning but it was so hard to catch it.

My plan:
Do fresh water dip to check whether flukes or white spot - if flukes should be able to see out of the water. If nothing is visible, likely ich?

I would then place it in QT to monitor and treat once I find out what the issue is, as I do not want to place it back into QT and having trying to catch it again because it's just so hard to catch!

Thoughts?

Hard to tell without images. If you can easily catch him do a fresh water dip. If flukes they should come of within the first 3-4 min of the dip and you can proceed with treatment plan for flukes. If not than for ich.

having trying to catch it again because it's just so hard to catch!
Try waiting until the tank and room has been dark for at least a couple of hours. Using a small flashlight, locate the tang and shine the light into its eyes. It will mesmerize the fish, usually making it easy to net.
