Yellow Tang with Purple Tang?

BTW I have a purple and a yellow in my 360 gal tank. They bother under my care for 5 years and in this tank for 3+ years. They started out about the same size but the purple grew a little larger, by about 1/2 inches. Both at -/+ 5 inches. Most agressive is my PBT at about 7-8 inches. PBT started out smaller than the other two but grew quickly and is the largest fish in the tank.

I think your best bet is to try and control the situation as much as possible. I'd pull the YT once the PT is fully QT'd. I'd place both into the same QT tank with a divider for a bit of time. Then remove the divider and see how things go. If they squabble in QT that's probably normal but if it's a fight to the death you'll know and be able to stop it. If they are fighting in the DT its much harder to deal with. If you're successful in QT you can then add them to the DT and pray as it's still not a guarantee.

I have both living peacefully together, but I've got a 7ft 260g tank. I've added several tangs without any issues until my powder blue died. I tried to add a new one and my yellow wasn't having it. He killed it before I got home from work. Best bet is to use an acclimation box for a few days, followed by the mirror trick if necessary.
I purchased a Powder Brown Tang a few weeks ago and my Purple tang went on the war path. I removed the purple tang for about a week and a half and place him in a tank on his own. I then place him back in and he was semi aggressive at first then chilled out. I really did not think it would work but all is well at this time. My tank is 220 Gallons.

Update: I decided against my urge and am not going to chance the purple tang. Don’t want any fish to die, will make him first on the list for a new tank in the future!!
