I currently have a 75 g. Fairly new tank. The tank is about 2 months old and the diatom bloom has just cleared. I have a naso tang and jewel damsel. I aqcuired a yellow tang 7 days ago. He was healthy full of life eating and energetic. He even seem to be super close buddies with the naso tang. I fed them this morning and when i came home the yellow tang was dead stiff on his side on the sand. I also have a couple of softy corrals and 30 snails and 30 crabs. Please help this is the second time this has happen but the first fish was a blue hippo. The hippos seem to have ich but i do not know now sense my naso is thriving. Water perameters are 79-80 f. 0 all across the board with ph of 8.1. Sg is .023

Naso and Blues require a tank of at least 180 gallons, some will say larger. Yellow at least 100. I know that's not what you want to hear right now. Any visible signs of distress on the yellow tang?

They are 2" at most, i do know i need to upgrade to the proper tank size. No, this morning he looked great i thought he might be sleeping but my naso was puffed up in defense mode with black body white spots. I found him in tack he back fin had tiny scuffs but could that be from the crabs? It was like he instantly died. I have been feeding garlic soaked mysis just in case for ich.

Have you been feeding anything besides the mysis? Any type of algae based food?

No only mysis and roe. Had two different lfs check my water and they got the same numbers everyrhing is perfect. So im thinking either he was sick and didnt show or got sick in my tank and didnt show

I'm not saying this is the reason he died but you should be feeding algae sheets or something similar

Thanks for the help. Im converting my 20g freshwater to a qt tank and see if my luck changes. The lfs has really good prices on fish but idk aboit there care they make money on corals

Yeah you should always keep a qt setup...I learned the hard way and had all of my fish die about a year ago. Good luck

with tangs, they should always be fed nori sheets or some type of supliment of algae. i have bought tangs with hille, and ich. they are all still alive its all about Qt'ing and making sure they are fat, and fed when they go in to the dt
