I have had my tank for about 7 years now however recently I've noticed my yellow tang turning clear at night only and going back to yellow during the day hours anyone know what might be the cause ?

Yellow tangs have a night time coloration that is more light colored. As far as I know, they all do it.

Agreed. You will also notice the white stripe they have on each side of their body is more prominent at night as well.

A lot of fish change color after the lights go off, my foxface looks like a rock at night. Even my gem tang gets pale with a solid horizontal stripe on the side.

Sleeping colours, as stated above there are several (I think every fish changes in some way) fish that change colour form due to them being asleep. The most well known for this is the Siganidae family (Rabbitfish/Foxfaces), they often go camo when they’re sleeping or stressed - Although no fish can do this as well as the flashing tilefish. If I remember correctly Hoplolatilus chlupatyi is the only fish that can change its colour within a blink of an eye. Those fish are certainly spectacular when they flash, I saw mine flash a week before I bought it (The week it went under reservation).

It’s colors in their relaxed state
I have 5 and they do the same
