Much too small unless you plan to upgrade to a 100+gal as soon as the fish is bigger than 4”. Tangs need to have adequate swimming space and that doesn’t just mean “can turn in a circle”.Is it okay to add 1 yellow tang in 40 gallon tank? Aio (Innovative marine 40 gallon air)
Aye thanks I will not do that just asking, I have 150 g tank just wondering if one can fit in 40 gOnly if you cut out a picture of a yellow tang and pasted it on the glass.
Seriously, you can get away with this for a few months with a small captive-bred specimen before you upgrade. These tangs like to swim, and hide, and then swim some more, and will probably be very uncomfortable in such a small tank. If you want something fun and yellow that won't eat your coral, get a canary blenny. Or get a yellow assessor -- those are cool.
I have 150g just wanna try if one can fit in 40I’ve seen it done successfully for many years but sooner than later a bigger tank is recommended and best for the fish.
I have 150g so how much tangs can fit in 100g above?Much too small unless you plan to upgrade to a 100+gal as soon as the fish is bigger than 4”. Tangs need to have adequate swimming space and that doesn’t just mean “can turn in a circle”.
Yup I have 150g, just wondering if one can fit in 40g alone, anyways you said captive bred is it possible to breed them in a bigger tanks? Like 200g just for 2 tangs? I breed clownfish too, I was planning to invest in tang for sooner they grow and reach maturity I hope they can breed but I need a pond for this when I saw a pregnant oneIf it is a tiny captive bred one it would be okay for a bit but you would need to upgrade.
I have an adult yellow in a 4 foot by 2 foot and the tank is too small imo. It is healthy but honestly have to be blind to not see that the fish should have more space. They are powerful and fast swimmers.
Then add him or keep him in the 150 gallon permanently it would be unnecessary stress to keep him in a 40 gallon and then have to move him later!I have 150g just wanna try if one can fit in 40

Okay thank youNo it’s not probable to put two tangs together and breed them as a hobbiest.
They are a pelagic spawning species. I think details were shared at MACNA 2020 on breeding tangs.
I believe they use super deep tanks, 6 ft? And rotifiers will not work.
