I have a frogspawn that, all of a sudden, has drawn up and is looking deflated. Everything else in the tank is flourishing. He was doing great. Had him for about 6 months. For the last month, he's been shrinking but not completely receded.

Water change of 20% weekly and as of today
KH was at 12
Ph was 8.2
Calcium was normal, forgot the exact number
Nitrate level was 0
Salinity was 1.024

Lighting is on an 8 hour cycle of day lights

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The last pics are of him a few months back when he was fully out and happy.

Definitely dip him and is he near a lot of flow or high up? They like medium flow with mid lighting
If that last pic is of him at his happiest he hasn't been happy since you got him.
So dip him for 10 minutes
And put him in a mid light mid flow so his polyps are flowing lightly!

Definitely dip it. Could be something causing it to close all the time. Coral RX or Lugol Iodine should work.

Ok, I dipped him and put him back in. He hasn't opened back up since yesterday. Is this normal?

Thanks

Do you have any shrimp (peppermint)? They may be picking at it. I have seen mine do that to my frogspawn with no ill effects other than closer for a bit. I've also had a smaller frag of FS close up completely for a week or so with no obvious signs of distress (both shrimp or chemistry) and then open back up bigger and better after that. If you've dipped and you don't have anything else different, just ride it out. Somethings just happen w/o a good reason.

I have noticed with the wall types of euphyllias that they are much more sensitive than the branching...he may or may not rebound from this,,,
Keep it where it is...make sure you can feel the flow with your hand and he's getting decent light..maybe put a few pellets ontop to see if it needs to eat

You are right the wall types are less hardy than the branching types. The pix is of a branching type. Hopefully it will recover the good news the flesh looks like it is still surrounding the outside of head.
