I picked up a yellow tonga for a nice discount, wasn't looking so hot, lost a lot of its color. Trying to rescue it. Is there a particular area that this type of coral likes more than others? I have it half shaded in moderate flow, all i got so far is some better polyp extension, but the color still doesn't look any better. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I hope to have it recover and be a nice central piece. Thanks in advance!

Pic help;)

That would probably help right!? So I actually ended up moving it to where it is now, on the left side. I had it hanging out all the way on the right, but it kept falling off the ledge bc I didn't want to glue it anywhere yet until I find the right place. I have a RW-8 on the left, on pulse mode, and a Koralia on the right pushing more the back of the tank, the aquaclear is my carbon "reactor" and points to the front middle/left side and the box filter return points to the surface facing the right side of the tank. I have a Maxspect Razor up top for lighting on a preset mode, ramps up and down over 12 hrs. I'm battling GHA and a few others occasionally, depending on how long it is between changing gfo and how much carbon dosing I'm doing. The sandbed and rocks are 12yrs old and leeching detritus and PO4 from years of neglect when I was running a fowlr. Any tips on this guy would be greatly appreciated!

If you're speaking of the Yellow Fiji Toadstool/Sacrcophyton, mine have always done better under intense lighting and higher flow. I have kept mine under T5 and PC lighting. You will get the best color under intense lighting and the best extension under mod to higher flow. It's a hardy coral. I can post an image of mine and placement if you like.

Good looking tank;)

Thanks for the advice. Would love to see a pic of yours if you're willing to share.

Thanks KJ, although it needs a lot of tlc and prodding along to become something I'm proud of. Getting there though, slowly but surely. :-)
