I ordered 2 medium sized, yellow watchman gobies from my local fish store. A week later I got the call they arrived so I went to pick them up. When I got there she showed them to me. They sent large instead of medium, surprise. I didnt care, I was happy to see my son smile while looking at his new fish. They about 4-5 inches long, and just were not yellow. I've read up, and I do understand that they my turn grey as a stress indicator, with age, or as a sex trait. All the pictures I've seen are just grey with the spots. One of mine is grayish with blue spots all the way along his side, and black spots on his "parachute" fin. The other is a little smaller blue spots half way down the side then vertical stripes almost an orange/grey and black spots on the same fin. They have black fins for the ones they use as "feet." Sorry I don't know the technical terms. Are these still yellow watchman gobies, or something else. It doesn't matter either way. They are my favorite fish in the tank, just curious as to everyone's thoughts.

they don't look like yellow watchman goby's to me due to the vertical stripes they have but that might just be your light. But they defiantly are a sand sifting goby of some sort.

I thought it might be the light at first too, but only one has the stripes from about half way back to its tail. They both have the blue spots. The larger one just has blue spots from nose to tail

I guess we will have to see if it colours up after a few days in the tank
