Yellow Watchman Goby and Tiger Pistol....... Question

Hello fellow reef keepers!


I added a YWG and Tiger Pistol a couple of weeks ago and they came as a pair and behaved as such since arrival, until a couple of days ago. I noticed the YWG has been out of the hole quite a bit and I haven't seen the Tiger at all.

Is this normal? Thanks!!

Is the pistol possibly in their "lair" or cave?

The pistol is most likely in the cave systems expanding but with an antenna feeling the watchman as it builds. The watchman is most likely out on guard watch making sure both him and his fellow pistol shrimp are safe.

+1 to this, often if you view your tank from below it makes it so easy to spot any missing animals.

Yes, its normal, its a sign that the goby is comfortable in the tank.
Assuming of course the shrimp is still alive. Do you hear clicking?

Yes, but I just see sand still so far, some spots definitely look "thin" but I can't see through.

Sometimes, but the shrimp was not much of a clicker to begin with, so it's rare.

Update:

This morning, the YWG was back in his hole AND I heard clicking from the pistol shrimp........so......that is good.
