Yellow Watchman Goby can't compete for food

I just got him and it seems like he's trying. he stays at the top of the tank more than i've seen any goby online, or when I was observing him at the store. My clownfish are so greedy they gobble up all the food within seconds. Should I find some sinking pellets for him or spot feed, or does he scavenge?

Sinking will do it. I leave my powerheads on while feeding and he catches them as they go by.

Thats unusual as Mine and most are bottom only and Mine knows exactly where to station itself when food hits the tank. Never misses a meal.

he's trying! If he wasn't snapping at them I'd think he were blind. he's just missing ;Facepalm like, by a lot.

I know right??? I watched at the store for 3 weeks and NEVER saw him at the top of the tank. My clowns are super greedy though. And super quick. I’ve never seen fish eat as quickly as they do.

I had the same issue with my YWG...I had to start overfeeding some and timining it so a steady stream of food hits the water so it circulates the whole tank. He's figured out where to go to catch the food as it floats by now however

Try setting your cell phone at the tank for 30 mins and walk away. Come back and review video and see if clowns are annoying it.

the clowns are curious but they don't bother it. I wonder if he is still scared tho because he was their first tank mate. anytime i drop something in there they think it's food, so they went after him LOL after they realized he wasn't a snack they haven't paid any attention to him other than just checking him out. He doesn't even run from them. like, the most aggressive one will literally swim next to him like a dolphin. I'm wondering if it's too hot. he hangs out in the current and when I turn the powerheads off he goes for the glass. he wasn't really doing this yesterday though.

I’d try and spot feed. They can be shy at first.

They actually don’t eat much. I’ve had mine for 5+ yrs and only see him get an occasional morsel. I used to try and target feed, but ends up scaring him away so he’s now on his own. I think they find food somewhere including sifting through the sand. Sand dwellers don’t get much with hungry tangs above.
