yellow watchman goby in 13.5 evo

I want to get a yellow watchman goby for my 13.5 gallon evo. I asked once befor and somebody said that they think that it would be fine but ive deen doing some reserch and alot of sources say that they need upwards of 20 gallons. im wondering if anybody has experiance with keeping a yellow watchman goby in a tank around 13 gallons.

I think it wold be fine, I have and it never goes to far from its hole. It really only come out to eat and intimidate the clown fish if they get to close.

Only fish? You could probably do a pistol shrimp and a yellow watchman as your only inhabitants.
Otherwise I would say no.


How to Care for Yellow Watchman Goby

Behavior: The Yellow Watchman Goby makes an excellent "Nano Fish" and does well in any peaceful reef aquarium. It will pair with the nearly blind pistol shrimp. This unique symbiotic relationship is quite interesting to observe. The goby serves as lookout while the nearly blind shrimp keeps their burrow dug out and tidy. They will get along well with other shrimp gobies.

Keep a lid on your aquarium because the Yellow Watchman Goby is likely to try to jump out.

Feeding: Offer the Yellow Watchman Goby a mixed diet of mysis shrimp and finely chopped meaty foods 1-2 times per day. Soaking all fish food with vitamins will help keep your fish healthier and make them less susceptible to disease. We recommend soaking food in garlic as well when adding new fish and whenever your notice ich or other disease in the aquarium. Garlic will help repel external parasites and will boost the fishes immunity.

Feeding Tips: Remember to feed slowly. Leftover food will cause nitrates and phosphates to rise. If you see food falling to the sand bed and into the rocks, you should feed slower and give the fish a chance to eat before adding a little more. Using a turkey baster allows you to target food to different fish. For example you can feed the aggressive fish on one side of the tank and then squirt a little bit on the other side for the less aggressive fish. This way all the fish get a chance to eat enough.

It should be fine. If you want a smaller shrimp goby consider the high banded shrimp goby, Yasha, , tangaroa, wheelers or Orange spotted. The first three are all less than 3”

I think that I have decided the route I am going to take. I went to my lfs today for snake food and looked in the fish section and asked about the yellow watchman gobys and was told that they are going to get some on Friday. I am going to try to get a pistol shrimp too. I am not too worried about him over growing the tank becase i can eather get a bigger tank or give or sell him to somebody witch is worst scenario And I forgot to add in the first post that I have a refugium and protin skimmer. And As for the stocking I have two clown fish and a plethora of corals and a maxima clam I think. And has been set up for about a year now.
