These are usually isolated to just the fish, but it’s a lot harder to treat in the display tank.

Looks like an injury which has developed a bacterial infection. Treat in a separate tank with Seachem Neoplex or Kanaplex

I don't have a qt tank.

anyone can easily setup up a QT quickly. Wal mart is usually open 24 hrs and will carry a 10g tank. there's plenty of hob filters there too , along with a heater and air pump/air stone. thats all that is needed.

I don't have a qt tank.

Starter kit at walmart has the essentials needed and only takes up 22" of room

Your other fish are not at risk, BUT, sometimes other fish will pick onan injured fish to the point of death.

I’ve seen this sort of lesion pretty often in this species….it can end being fatal. I would consider treating it with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic in a treatment tank. Neoplex is one med, or you could dose Maracyn 1 and Maracyn 2 together.
