Just moved my watchman to the DT from QT...he's just hanging out at the top of the tank and actually got caught in the run off...his tail was caught so I put a net in front...any thoughts on why he's hanging out on top or is it just a matter of giving him time ...(what else to do?)...

They will do this if stressed. What else is in the DT with him?

He's hiding out now...there's a spot tail blenny and a yellow tail damsel...also a pistol shrimp but they haven't met up yet...the blenny showed a bit of negative interest when I first put him in...

Both of those fish may have given him a good chase causing him to hide out up top. Just be sure to keep an eye out that he doesn't jump or get sucked into overflow. Once he has a burrow to hide in this behavior should stop.

He did go through the overflow, but I got him out uninjured...since I don't know where he is at present...must have found a burrow...I know to give him time now...

Just keep an eye out. I had one die in the overflow because I didn't know it was back there.

Mine took a while to find my pistol but since then they have been side by side 24 /7.[My yellow watchman has been MIA for the third day now...can't spot him anywhere...I cleaned out the sump and he's not in there, cleaner shrimp is no eating pieces of fish...just missing...How long before it reappeared in your tank...learning to be patient and not to worry...but:(

Mine disappeared for about two weeks when I first got him. I was convinced I had lost both the pistol and goby. Then one afternoon they suddenly appeared. I would guess that they have taken root in a spot that you can't see. My pair just moved on me again.

Post a pic of the tank? Maybe there isn't enough caves for all the residents. You might need to get some rock rubble and start building.

Edit: read the rest, hopefully he is happily living in a cave somewhere.

The tank picture is to the left...lots of holes and the pistol shrimp has made a lot more in the sand...the tailspot blenny always finds plenty of holes to sleep in...maybe but probably not the problem...
