just come back from work to find my wrasse on the floor
3 years in the tank whitout issues
But from few months I see some aggression from purple tang
@4FordFamily or anyone
Is possible an aggression that result in a jump outside from the tank?
Tank have also a safety rim so I really don't understand as he can jump it

That stinks man. Sorry to see your little dude went carpet surfing. I had that happen with a Randell's Prawn Goby. Very heartbreaking!

If their head can fit through an opening they can jump out. They are capable of jumping several feet iut of a tank.

Aggression, being scared, or even being excited can all be factors in jumping.

Wrasses are notorious jumpers. Screen tops are highly recommended.

I agree with this 100%. It is inevitable with wrasse.

Ok ..
My question is ,the two fishes live in pacefull from 3 years and more
Is possible that tang during maturity increase aggressivity towards others inhabitants ?
And at last is possible that other future aggression with other fishes will cause other death like this again?

This one is easy....yes. Many fish including tangs, angels and wrasses naturally become territorial as they mature. That being said I don't know if the tang did it. Wrasses jump for any number of reasons. If there is any opening large enough to fit their head through eventually they will find it.

Agreed. Social dynamics are also fluid. So what may have been peaceful inthe beginning may change later on.

Hmmm...isnt this halichores usually bury themseves in sand when threatened, do you have a sandbed?

mine jumps.. a lot, especially at feeding time. I have a screen lid and I feed through the lid. Sometimes he'd hit the lid so hard he'd move it.. so I have no doubt he could jump at least a foot out of the water.

I'm sorry, they are beautiful fish.

I have always read that wrasses will jump out. I have malanarus, leopard and a checkerboard wrasse going on 2.5 years none of them have jumped out. I have an odd shaped tank, and have tried the diy self screen lids but they just don't work on my tank. I have had 2 sand sifters the made the jump.
