Yellowtail Coris Wrasse

I have a Yellowtail Coris Wrasse, around 6" long, and I know they will eat snails and hermits any chance they get. Would an emerald crab would have any hope? Or any other inverts? Thanks!

Yellow coris wrasses are not necessarily a threat to crabs and snails.
I usually mark them as safe for inverts

They’re on about the true coris wrasse, C. gaimard.
Yes they will go after any invert at 6” or bigger, even an emerald crab will be food IME. I wouldn’t risk it, either keep the fish or get the invert and sell the fish unfortunately and I would keep the fish since these are beautiful even if they’re destructive. I find that with most wrasse like Halichoeres and Coris, the inverts that are nocturnal will be safer.

Thanks, I figured he'd devour an emerald crab but had to ask as I've always wanted one but also don't want to risk an emerald crab in my reef tank, lol

my coris is still decently small. probably 3inches. he has only ever picked at my nassarius snails but i tend to scare him off when he does so he’s associated that with being bad and hasn’t done it as much.

i have an emerald crab in my tank, but she’s a sneaky little one so maybe she’ll survive for more time.

Ah ok thanks. I have only heard that one called red coris my bad

Tghis is a red coris wrasse with yellowtail.. . Not regular yellow coris. My red coris flipped every frag it could in search of worms and food source
