Yes! Indo is back!

You do realize it will still be a few months before some of those ship anything right? They are only allowed to ship what the Department of Fisheries says can based of an audit done in early December. So yes, some will possibly ship out this week. In order for them to export coral, they have to submit a request online 5 days out, then they will be inspected 2 days out to see if the corals pass in order to get a health certificate.

With the new regulations in place and with the current information given about wild corals, it's still going to be a slow go. Any new wild corals coming to the hobby out of there will have a huge hurtle to overcome. If any coral importer will take on the cost, they would be very expensive.

Its about availability rather than price reduction and nothing like the local coral we used to be able to buy

Great news!

Now Aussie prices will go UP!

With the fires going on in Australia it is only a matter of time, especially with indo open again.

Interesting how it flip flops hahaha
How will the fires make coral prices rise?

Just a theory but imagine this if you will....

Local wildlife won't have an affect on the worlds eco system but over 500 million animals have already been killed.

They WILL play a part on the reefs in Australia.

So will all of the waste washed into the shores from this. It's truly unknown how deep the fires are getting and that's another issue. The fires are spreading closer to the oceans and not just in the middle anymore.

How and to what extent is unknown but Australia will never be the same.

Any major disaster in an area will reap havoc on everything including reefs.

Here is a very simple google map of the fires.

How can the reefs not be affected?

And in turn how wont the prices be affected if this gets worse or even stays the same because I hope it doesnt get worse.

All in all very sad.

Oh dear.
Mate, that map was dismissed as inaccurate and misleading weeks ago.
"The fires are spreading closer to the oceans and not just in the middle anymore." oh dear......
Look, it's wonderful that you are concerned, but you might want to introduce some facts into your beliefs.

the map is a simple graphic, not to scale.

yes the fires are a disaster but not in the areas where the coral reefs are.

Maybe you guys missed my first sentence.....

JUST A THEORY BUT IMAGINE THIS

And yes the Map was supposed to be that SIMPLE and NOT TO SCALE as it was me trying to insist that if it happened to get as they showed it would reach the reefs.

Sorry if this all went over as me tryong to convey ACTUAL FACTS.

As I stated in my 1st sentence it's ALL in theory and what COULD happen if it got worse.

OK BACK TO YOUR NORMALLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM....

YAY INDO CORALS!!!

Cool, then I will gladly let you know, that your 'imagined' scenario, will not happen, and therefore, Australian Coral prices will not rise.
Cheers.

Prices will definitely go down. Last week when I was there my local store owner mentioned the indo ban ending. Said his wholesaler told him the prices would be lower than what people thought because the farms have a backlog of corals and are starving for cash. He said his paperwork was already approved. The LFS owner said he was quoted $25-$30 a head on torches. No idea on the colors he may be getting though. Obviously things could change but I think people are dreaming if they think torches will still cost anywhere near what they currently do once regular orders are coming in again. Hopefully the days of $1000+ torches will soon be gone forever.

I love ppl on here writing out facts that are really guesses/speculations on what a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY is going to do 16,000 miles away, weeks/months from now

Rotflmbo

I think at the next National Reefing Conference...what ever that is.... they should bring in Indonesian BELLY DANCERS to roam the conference to CELEBRATE.

I'm about to wander past an LFS, I'll post some pics of Aussie coral prices in Australia.

You seem to miss the point I was joking. There I cleared it up.

Ohhhh Please walk to your Australian fish store and show us what I was joking about.

And just to also clear something up...Australian corals in australia will be much less obviously.

But please pics are always welcome!

Where was this sense of humor reading my post and then loving my fake speculation HAHAHAH

See another joke, hope you guys got that one.

;)

lol seriously you really missed my joke but that's ok....hahah

And aussie corals will always be cheaper in aussie.....that's a given!

if you think prices are going to become cheaper you are crazy and I dont think that you have good judgment.

I hope i wrong, but im not.

From reef builders article

"A new set of documentation and a new set of rules are now in place – Each coral shipment destined for export needs to be registered online five days before the shipping date. Then it will be inspected two days before shipping and the inspectors will need to issue a recommendation letter that will let quarantines release the Health Certificate needed for each shipment to be cleared through customs. "

LOL yeah its not gonna be cheaper lol. Maybe if everyone didn't buy them at the high prices we wouldn't be here.
