Sorry for yet another cycling thread, but here it is...

I see in many of the threads and posts throughout the Forum varying information on cycling. I consider my myself to be pretty adept at processing information, but I have to be honest, this cycling business has always had me scratching my head about some things. My question centers around starting a new tank with Live Sand and Live Rock. If I am reading some posts correctly, there are many people who feel that if you start a new tank with live sand and live rock, then you are essentially cycled from day 1? I ask, because I just started an IM Nuvo 40 gallon tank...I used 25 pounds of CaribSea Arag-Alive Fiji Pink Sand and 35 ponds of Real Reef Rock I bought (wet) from my local fish store. I added a bottle of Dr Tim's One and Only also. Tank has been running for 6 days...Am I good to go to add a coral or 2 and some form of clean up crew? Add fish? No to all?

Fire away!!

Thanks in advance for your time!

If you wanted to be really conscientious, you could test it.

Add pure ammonia to 1ppm or 2. Test and see how long it takes the ammonia to get to zero. If the tank can process it in 24hrs or so, the tank is cycled.
