Hi all - bare with me as I'm currently putting my first fish through the QT process linked above. Up until now I've always just dropped them in and I'm trying to do the responsible thing for once!

So I have a young female Naso that has been in the tank for about a week. First few days she nibbled at various foods until I finally found her secret - spirulina brine. She can't get enough of that stuff and has since also starting chowing down on Nori by the sheet.

Thing is - she came in VERY skinny. Here's a pic. My question is this - should I continue to feed her and fatten her up or go ahead and start the Prazi process? She doesn't seem to have any symptoms (no scratching, marks, etc). She's just very skinny...

Thanks - sorry for the crap photo. She just ripped the clip off the wall and I've got a ton of coraline on the tank. It was my display tank until a week or so again - I drained it, removed sand and kept a few chunks of rock just for now.

as long as she is eating reliably, then you could probably start with the prazi. She's not too skinny yet- I can't see her spine or anything.

IMO the point of a qt is to treat and observe so you dont take any risks with your dt ...so if its at then i would start treatment and monitor to make sure eating continues some it may slack off due to meds...but then again i do not have an up and running qt so what do i know lol

+1 Plus the reason she might be skinny is due to an intestinal worm, which Prazi clears up most of the time.

Yeah I'm thinking y'all are on the right path. I'll start it up tomorrow when I can be home a bit more to monitor. Prazipro is pretty mellow right? Should be ok

I think it is... it can cause some appetite suppression though and use up some of the available oxygen in the water.... so be sure to point a power head at the surface of the water or add a bubbler.

I went ahead and dosed Prazi yesterday. Naso spent most of the time kind of hanging out in the bottom area - not breathing too heavy or anything but did lose a bit of appetite. Then I went down there about an hour ago and the quarter sheet of nori was gone and she was chomping on some pieces on the ground. So hopefully we're over the stress hump (knock on wood).

Never really saw any signs of anything so hopefully this will just be a protective dose.

You'll want to do another dose 5 days later. Do a water change first. The second dose is to kill the flukes (that may or may not be present) that hatched from the eggs of the first ones you killed. The water change is to remove the dead bodies before the second round. After that your done with prazi (usually)
