I'm going to be ordering a new tank in a couple weeks, it'll be 36×36×24h. Corals will be mainly leathers, some LPS like acans and chalices and zoas. My question for stocking is I want cryptic fish. I want to have to look for my fish. I don't really care if they're colorful, I'm colorblind so it really doesn't matter to me. I currently have a longnose hawkfish that will go into the new tank, I also have 4 dwarf sea hares, but I think I'll keep them in my caulerpa tank. I plan on getting a few different types of shrimp, pistols, cleaners, and a pair of bongos. So whatever fish have to be compatible with shrimp. I know my hawkfish may eat the bongos, but he's left the glass feeder shrimp alone for the past 2 months, he seems to prefer pellet food for some reason. Anyhow I'm just looking for ideas right now bc I'm bored and stuck at an airport, thought I'd make use of my time here. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Wetmorella sp. wrasses are cryptic, I believe, they are on the stocking list for my softie tank.

My stonogobiops nematodes goby is out some but but also hides quite a bit, he's paired with an alpheus randalli

I was looking at the possum wrasses the occasionally get on divers den, do they do better single or in groups?

The whole keeping shrimp thing kind eliminates everything I can think of. If you are a risk taker flounders are pretty cool. I had a window pane in my native tank that jumped out. Then I had a peacock flounder in my pond for 2 years. It grew to about 8 inches.

I usually keep predatory fish, but where I live now I'm limited on space and want to give little fish a try. I do miss my groupers though, maybe on down the road, but for right now I'm going to try a non typical community tank.

Goby/shrimp pair, barnacle blennies, seahorses, garden eels.

Possum wrasses are cool, I have only one purchased from divers den. He is always around the rock work but he always comes to see me no matter which side of the tank I'm on.

How are they with other bottom dwellers? I know they prefer cooler Temps than normal reefs so it makes me leery about getting one.
I'm pretty sure they stake their claim on territory.

They're not really cryptic though, they spend a lot of time in the open. I'll take them into consideration, any particular species you can recommend?
I have a clown fairy that has a lot of personality my wife loves him to death and very peaceful.

Anyone have any experience with Plesiops coeruleolineatus? I see they may be a threat to small shrimp, but was wondering how peaceful or aggressive they are towards other inhabitants.
