Yet ANOTHER Vibrant trial thread - Bubble Algae

Michael you are at almost a month? Any updates on the bubbles?

A few locations dissolved or got blown off the rock.... While other areas have grown more bubbles. I guess I really didnt know how bad it was originally. Per UWC, I'm going to start pulling the easy-to-get-to- areas. Mostly because they are smothering a few corals. UWC says, even if they break open the Vibrant will halt the additional outbreak. MY plan is not to break ANY. LOL

To further complicate things, this past week, I went ahead and swapped my lighting from a crappy Orbit/MarsAqua setup to an SB Reef Ultra. Will this skew the results and process? Maybe. But I was desperate to get better lighting for these corals. (acans, zoas, shrooms, softies...)

I know, I know...where's the pics?? ...on my crappy cell phone. LOL

I am not trying to mess up your testing but api algaefix marine will get rid of your bubble algae. I have used it in the past and when the algae was gone just stopped using it. I saw no ill effects on anything other than algae in my tank.

How often are you dosing? For me to rid my BA I was dosing 2x/week at recommended dosage. Took about 5-6 weeks but it all disappeared as well as dinos

I've been using vibrant for a few weeks now, more for my hair algae. I dose 2x a week at the recommended dose, I have a 40B. My hair algae seems more likely to stay gone after manual removal now, so each WC it gets a little better. I haven't found any impact on my bubble algae however. I had blankets of the stuff on my rocks for awhile, added 8 or 10 emeralds, and was 90% gone and stabilized after a month or so. I do have some green slime in a couple of spots now that I've been using Vibrant, but its in one spot and doesn't seem to ever spread.

I'm using the recommended dosage 1X per week. ... Patience is the key, right?? Well...I'm about out of patience. I did some manual removal during the 20% water change this past weekend. I just couldnt help myself...

I started at 1x a week and it didn't seem to be doing much. That's when I started 2x week and that did.

So far I think ReefFlux at 4x the dose is the best option. My bubble algae is basically gone. AlgaeFixx and Fritz Alge Clean Out have similar ingredients but Fritz apparently has a stronger amount in it. The Algae Clean Out is safe for shrimps and snails if dosed in saltwater.
