Was doing maintenance on my seahorse tank which has a very shallow sandbed (so some spots are even bare) and saw this lying on the bottom. Figured it was a stem or piece of dead plant/macroalgae and pulled it out but the more I looked at it, the more I wondered.... was this a living creature other than a plant? I can't stop looking at it and the more I do I don't think it was a plant. I guess my concern is, if it's bad, there's probably more and I should do something. Ponies and coral are all OK, so far.

Odd questions, but how big was it, and did it smell sweet at all?

There are a few nudibranchs that could potentially look like this, and some of them (a few Melibe spp.) are reported as having a sweet smell to them.

Probably stretched out = 2-3 inches. I did not notice any odor when I removed it but I may just give it a good sniff before flushing it. Interesting!
