Image you had a reef system with 1-2% daily automatic water changes. Your water storage is enough for an entire month without mixing salt.

You need to decide between a kessil horticulture LED and a fuge, or a pentair 40W UV sterilizer.

At any time you can up the percentage of water exchange for nutrient export, but you have to mix more saltwater in turn.

What would you do?

You are comparing apples and oranges. Saying that a fuge for sure as it has day to day benefits where a UV is useful for some things but is not needed all the time

My consensus was fuge too, but as an engineer I overthink and over analyze everything to my own demise sometimes.

The system will eventually have both, but the wife isn't loving the initial investment total, considering the fish room and all ;Woot
